A federal judge has temporarily halted the Trump administration’s freeze on U.S. foreign aid, ordering the immediate resumption of funds under contracts, grants, and loans active as of January 19, 2025. In a ruling issued on February 13, U.S. District Judge Amir H. Ali blocked key officials and agencies, including the State Department and USAID, from pausing financial disbursements. The decision marks a significant legal setback for the administration’s efforts to reshape foreign aid. Judge Ali also directed the agencies to notify affected parties and submit a compliance report by February 18. Trump administration has not yet indicated whether it will appeal the ruling.
