Hope Through Education: SKC Foundation Sponsors Children of Chikangawa Plane Crash Victims4/24/2025 By Ephraim Mkali Banda vice presidentn a powerful gesture of compassion and commitment to education, the Saulos Klaus Chilima (SKC) Foundation has stepped in to support fifteen children who lost their parents in the tragic Chikangawa plane crash that claimed Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima and others on June 10, 2024. Over K12.8 million in school fees have been paid for the 2024 academic year, covering students from reception level to university. These children are dependents of five civilians who perished alongside the Vice President in the fatal incident. The Foundation, launched officially on February 12, 2025, was created to honor Dr. Chilima’s legacy through long-term investments in education, youth leadership, crisis response, and community empowerment. “We want to ensure that the tragic loss of their parent does not signal the end of their educational pursuits,” said Mary Chilima, widow of the late Vice President and Chairperson of the SKC Foundation.
